Have decided to start the Unpopular Party, one that makes decisions for the benefit of the country not to please the media!
My manifesto is as follows
1. Let's become like Switzerland, not get involved in other peoples wars and be more democratic at home, the Swiss enjoy the luxury of local referendums to approve all major areas of spending, wouldn't that be a good idea for us?
2. Get rid of all of the wasteage, since Labour came to power there are 900,000 more people employed by the Government, lets remove all the useless Quango's, commissions and also end these endless Government enquiries that produce no result, we'll soon be having enquiries into enquiries!
3. Tighten our borders with a sensibly controlled immigration policy, sure we do need to help genuinely persecuted assylum seekers but firstly make sure they are genuine then put two rules in place, one is if they commit any criminal offence during their first five years here they get deported and secondly dont provide them with benefits but instead provide a work programme for them until they can get a job, if they are genuinely fleeing persecution these two conditions would not be that onerous.
4. Have a flat rate of income tax, this would remove all the complexity of the tax laws, make the the first £15,000 of everyones income tax free and then tax the balance at say 45%, this would really help the low paid.
5. Realise that we will need Nuclear power in the short term, we cant rely on wind farms even if we covered the whole country with them, we're going to run out of power if we dont take drastic action.
6. Have an education system that actually provides people with the skills to enter the work place, we so far have spend millions and millions to arrive at a point a long way from this
7. Have a joined up transport system of public transport that people would want to use
8. Make having aspirations to succeed a positive rather than a negative
9. Have a planning system that encourages beautifully designed buildings
10.Reduce the overwhelming power of the supermarkets
